Autumn in Japan runs from late September to early December, and varies from region to region. Depending on the area you are visiting, there may be places where the colors are just beginning to change. You can check this website to see how the leaves are changing and what the weather is like.

Hokkaido area

If you are planning to visit Hokkaido, you may want to hurry. It seems that many places are already in the early stages of leaves falling. After seeing the Autumn leaves, why not eat some fresh seafood and go shopping at Donki?

Maruyama Park

At only a 5-minute walk from the station, it's perfect for a quick break. There is also a very attractive zoo nearby.

This is a government-run park, with great access from the station! There is a Japanese garden, the Emperor's Memorial Hall, and Komorebi no Sato, a village which recreates Japanese houses and lifestyles from around 1955, so there is a lot to see. There are plenty of places to relax in Tokyo!

In the middle of the wilderness, Autumn leaves are all over the place! There are several hot springs and waterfalls, so I hope you can enjoy them while hiking. In fact, this is one of the most famous spots in the Kanto area for viewing the late Autumn leaves, and is popular among tourists from all over Japan. Old-fashioned railroads also run through the area, making it a great place for railroad fans!

Kansai area
(Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, Nara, Wakayama, Shiga)

Many Japanese people living in the Kanto region may have a strong mental image of "Let's go to Kyoto" when the Autumn leaves are in season. The Japanese railroad company, JR Tokai (Central Japan Railway Company), has made TV commercials which are so beautiful that they have stolen the hearts of many Kanto people, including myself.

Of all of them, I enjoyed the 2018 commercial the best, and I hope you all do too! If you watch this one, you may even end up buying a flight to Kyoto within the next 30 seconds!

Autumn colors on the dinner table are...

Another thing I would like to recommend is Donki's baked sweet potatoes! In Japan, we eat hot baked sweet potatoes in Autumn when the temperature drops a little. Some stores even sell them all year round, not just in the fall. They cannot be purchased tax-free due to the need to be immediately consumed, but Donki is proud to recommend their baked sweet potatoes for you to try!

Summary

This time we have introduced several spots in Japan where you can enjoy the Autumn scenery. Unfortunately, we weren't able to welcome you all this year due to the effects of COVID-19, but hopefully next year we'll be able to share the beautiful scenery with you!

In my next article, I will be introducing skincare products that I recommend for both Autumn, and Winter. These skincare products are very popular in Japan, and I will even be introducing some of the skincare products that I myself have tried out, so please look forward to reading about them♪

Donki has many goods and products to help you enjoy Halloween!
